The vision of the Lions Wilderness Experience is that it permits people who have special needs to experience boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Sometimes it is a first time novelty, other times it brings back a memory from long ago.
The camp environment encourages as much involvement as the guest finds comfortable. There are lake cruises on the pontoon boats, potluck meals in the screened barbecue kitchen, a nearby bonfire pit for singalongs and stories. A games building houses a pool table, shuffleboard, and dart boards. There is a miniature golf course and horseshoe pits.
Guests are accommodated in beautiful spacious 2 bedroom cabins. They are fully modern with wheelchair accessibility to all rooms. Comforts of home are included; modern bathroom, dishes, cookware, towels, bedding, microwave, fridge, stove, and a TV/VCR.
When it's time to go fishing, boats, motors, fuel, life jackets, paddles, etc. Are supplied by the lodge, and checked by the Lion sponsor who is accompanying the guest on the lake. A lift is available to assist those who require it. Guests may also fish from the pontoon boats, which are fully accessible for wheelchairs and walkers.
